KOPE coated kraft paper is kraft paper with a thin polyethylene coating on one or both sides. The PE layer is what gives kraft its resistance to water, grease and moisture, turning a porous paper into a barrier that can wrap food, line a box or protect goods in transit.
One-side PE coating is the common form: it seals the inside of a wrap while leaving the outside printable and tactile. Two-side coating is used where both faces meet moisture.
Where it is used
The main applications are food wrapping for burgers, fried food and baked goods, where the coating keeps oil from soaking through. The same material is used for water-resistant mailers, liner paper for cartons, and labels that must survive cold-chain or damp handling.
PE weight and barrier
The polyethylene coating is specified by weight, typically in the low double-digit grams per square metre. A heavier PE layer gives a stronger moisture and grease barrier; a lighter one keeps the paper more flexible and economical. The right weight balances barrier performance against cost and the feel of the paper.
Food contact and printing
Food-grade PE coated kraft uses a coating approved for direct food contact. The uncoated side prints well by flexo or offset, and the coated side can be heat-sealed where a sealed wrap is required.

Is it recyclable?
PE coated kraft is paper with a polymer layer, so it is recyclable where facilities can separate the coating; it is not a plain paper recyclable in every stream. Uncoated kraft remains the better choice where simple paper recycling is the priority.
What thickness should I choose?
It depends on the load and the barrier needed. Lighter kraft is used for wrapping and liners, heavier kraft for mailers and load-bearing packaging. The PE weight is chosen separately for grease and moisture resistance.
